Right Club President Calls for Immediate Suspension of City Manager McNees Amid Financial Audit Scandal

As Residents, Do We Know What We've Been Paying For?

By Nanette Rivera, President, The Right Club of South Collier County

I agree with Chairman Brechnitz 100% on the suspension of City Manager McNees.

I personally believe the AWT (Advanced Wastewater Treatment) and water quality issue on Marco Island has been intentionally delayed, avoided, and ridiculed.

We should be calling for a detailed forensic audit of the Marco Island Water Utility. We need to expose any misuse of utility profits—if it has occurred—or reassure residents why:

  • The Utility Bond has not been paid down further

  • Water rates have not been lowered as expected following the wastewater treatment upgrade

The residents of Marco Island deserve better. We deserve transparencyaccountability, and leadership that puts our community first.

“I believe McNees should be suspended immediately, until concerns are resolved, investigated, and held accountable.”

Let’s bring integrity back to city leadership—starting with the truth.
